About Me
You could say that I’m a bit of an anomaly.
I’m an introvert, and shyness is a part of my lived experience. I need alone time and feel energized when connected to myself, in peace and quiet. I personally consider therapy to be a necessary part of my self-care routine that helps me show up for myself, my family and my clients as my best, integrated self.
I have also been motivated to take risks and to seek out novel experiences. At 20 years old, I moved to Lake Louise, Alberta, during my summers as a student, to work at the Chateau Lake Louise. I lived with strangers (who soon became friends) and hiked the Rockies.
Right out of teacher’s college, I moved to Sweden to begin my international teaching career as an elementary teacher. I met my partner there, and we travelled throughout Europe and Africa every chance we got. I felt lit from within learning how other people live and experience the world around them.
We spent the next 5 years teaching in Dubai. I learned to scuba dive in Thailand, explored the streets of Japan, and rode camels in Jordan. It was a privilege that I cherish deeply. Those years of travelling and working with young people inspire my curiosity and open-mindedness today.
In 2015, I dreamt of helping people improve their quality of life through increased mental health. I began my Master of Counselling Psychology degree while continuing to teach and travel.
I’ve been fortunate to have vast experiences counselling people from Northern Alberta to Toronto. I’ve worked in community clinics, a woman’s shelter, in school settings, and in a sport psychology and performance clinic. I feel well-rounded and believe that my vulnerability is beautiful, as is yours.
I’m back home now in Tecumseh, Ontario, a little town outside of Windsor. I have the honour of being a mom to two little ones. We spend our weekends skating, swimming, and taking day trips to different local towns with fun parks. I enjoy working from home while balancing the joys and challenges of motherhood.
My career as a counselling psychologist feels aligned with my purpose and strengths. I highly value and believe in the therapeutic process. It would be my privilege to learn about you and to support you in living your life anchored in your values, beliefs, and mental wellness.
When we show up for ourselves, we can show up well for others. I commend you for taking this first step in increasing your self-care.
